The worst form of communication is a lecture: Stop it!

The best way to learn ANYTHING is by ‘hands-on’ activities. The TPR method has proved this. TPR or “Total Physical Response” was developed by Prof. James Asher at my bachelor’s degree university — San Jose State! There are many kinds of activities, but the most direct are ACTIONS:

Stand up              Sit down              Raise your hands              Lift your leg         jump up

Spin around        Bend over            Touch your toes                Stretch + yawn    bend your arms

laugh outloud        Sing                      eat        drink                     cheer                    clap

THEN as they practice you say, “I am standing up… I am sitting down.”

Other learners around them respond, “You are standing up,” or “She is sitting down”

Students will remember this more than ANY LECTURE.
