I’ve been a RUNNER ever since I was 15 yrs. old! I LOVE to run. But now I’m 62 and running long distances has become more difficult on concrete and ashphalt (asphalt for you Gringo Americans!). Sooo….
WE HAVE MOVED TO PUERTO VALLARTA ON MEXICO’S CENTRAL PACIFIC COAST!!!
Now I can run 10 kms on the sand without the leg pains I had before when in Calgary, Alberta.
Moral of the story? —
DO WHAT EXCITES YOU!
This DEFINITELY applies when learning English. If you love ACTION MOVIES — watch AVENGERS, DEADPOOL or MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, but…
DON’T READ THE SUBTITLES IN YOUR LANGUAGE!!
This activity is not a READING practice; it’s a LISTENING practice and the subtitles are a CRUTCH!
What about sports? You say you love soccer? Baseball? Basketball? Ok… but if you’re playing with your friends ONLY then you’re probably using your OWN language. What if you mix your teams up so you HAVE TO use English otherwise you’ll LOSE THE GAME? Ah! Then English BECOMES NECESSARY to your SPORTS PASSION.
So LET YOUR PASSIONS DRIVE YOU! Romance and English-speaking partner and you’ll be surprised at how much English soaks into your vocabulary and even into your dreams!
