Comparing things so you can speak or write

For speaking or writing paragraphs of comparison NOTHING beats the Venn Diagram for Venn animalslaying out ideas first. It’s even a good graphic in your presentation! The centre of the two circles are what’s the SAME (similarities) or “in common” between the two animals. the differences are on the circles’ edges. The NEXT step is to write statements like, “Fish breathe using water, but whales have to breathe real air.” Or “Whales have hair, but fish have scales.” Finally combining the sentences into a paragraph that makes sense with a good beginning or “topic” sentence like, “There are three differences and three similarities between whales and fish.” YOU JUST WROTE YOUR FIRST COMPARATIVE PARAGRAPH!
